"I always love to dive into every single issue and pick up every fact I can," Bernier said. "You just got to be honest with people. If you don't know the answer, you say you don't know the answer. Don't promise them anything you can't deliver."

Bernier also spoke to the purpose of the monthly format, which he said is designed to reach residents who may not have a specific complaint but want to stay connected to what is happening in the borough. "We show up monthly to something like this and hear from folks that maybe just want to have a conversation," Bernier said. "They don't have a specific issue, but they want to hear what other peoples' issues are, just find out what's going on in town in general."

Bernier acknowledged there will be more important choices ahead and said he plans to continue hosting the monthly meetings. "People need to be informed," Bernier said. "I will give my opinion and residents can take whatever piece of that they would like and, hopefully, that causes them to want to dig into it further to form their own opinion one way or another."
