Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools Open Wednesday

Maria Torres · Union County Life

Scotch Plains-Fanwood students returned to classrooms on Wednesday with a full week of lead-up events already underway across the district. Monday brought staff day with convocation and meetings to bring employees together before students arrived. Elementary families at School One, Brunner, Coles, McGinn, and Evergreen also stopped by Monday for welcome events that included meet-and-greets, scavenger hunts, and socials.

Tuesday shifted to professional development for staff. Brunner and Coles elementary schools added an ice cream social, an open house, and a "Chalk the Walk" event for families that day.

When Wednesday arrived, Terrill and Nettingham middle schools held orientation activities for their students. Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School welcomed ninth-grade students and their parents. Coles Elementary hosted an orientation for new students in grades one through four.

The week wrapped up quickly with schools closed Friday for the Labor Day weekend.

Before the week began, the district asked families to verify transportation arrangements, schedules, and opening day instructions. The district calendar is posted at spfk12.org/spf-district-calendar.
