Westfield Sweet Sounds Encore September 2026

Quimby Street in Downtown Westfield is hosting four themed live music nights this September under the banner Sweet Sounds Encore, an extension of the Downtown Westfield Corporation's Sweet Sounds Downtown Music Festival. The Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC) is moving the performance area from the corner of Quimby and Elm to the green turf area in the center of Quimby Street to accommodate larger crowds.

All four performances run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. "We thought about September as a homecoming for Westfield," said Daniel Taugher, executive director of the DWC. "After a busy summer, people are returning to their regular routines, and Encore gives the community four opportunities to reconnect with friends and neighbors downtown."

The series opens Friday, September 4, with Scarlet Magnolia, a Grateful Dead tribute band known for familiar songs and improvisational energy. The DWC notes that tie-dye is welcome, and Taugher added he "wouldn't be surprised if a few hacky sacks made an appearance that evening, too."

On Thursday, September 10, Nikki Briar & The Sweet Briar Band takes the stage with an energetic, audience-involving set. DanceFix will lead country line dancing throughout the evening; no previous dance experience is necessary.

Friday, September 18 is Yacht Rock Night, featuring New Yacht City and the smooth sounds of the 1970s and 1980s. Captain's hats will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

The series closes Friday, September 25, with Shake Rattle & Roll Pianos performing dueling pianos, complete with requests, sing-alongs, and familiar songs. "Each night has its own distinct theme and a more experiential element," Taugher said. "Each night was designed to feel like its own event while giving people another reason to shop, dine and spend time together in Downtown Westfield."

Guests are encouraged to arrive downtown before performances to browse local shops and enjoy dinner or drinks. Adults 21 and older can enjoy beer, wine, and cocktails outdoors on Quimby Street. Alcoholic beverages will not be sold by or through the event itself; attendees can bring their own or obtain them through permitted establishments and retailers in accordance with Town of Westfield regulations.
