Clooney and Bening Film In Love in Westfield

George Clooney and Annette Bening spent a sunny fall morning in downtown Westfield on Tuesday, Oct. 20, filming scenes for their new movie, “In Love,” in New Jersey. Union County Life is reporting the filming from TAPinto Westfield’s account.

The film is based on Amy Bloom’s 2022 memoir, “In Love: A Memoir of Love and Loss.” Clooney, 65, plays Brian Ameche, an architect diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2019. Ameche died in 2020 in Switzerland at age 66. Bening, 68, plays Amy, based on Bloom. Paul Weitz is directing and co-wrote the script with Bloom, and Clooney and Weitz are among the producers. The casting was announced last year.

The scenes were filmed inside Baron’s Drug Store and Vicki’s Diner on East Broad Street. Baron’s has been in town since 1936, and Vicki’s, which opened in 1999, was also used earlier this year as a filming location for the movie “Somedays,” starring Pamela Anderson, Billy Bob Thornton, and Ariana Greenblatt.

Clooney won a best supporting actor Oscar for “Syriana” in 2006 and another Academy Award as a producer of “Argo” in 2013. Bening has been nominated for five Oscars for “Nyad,” “The Kids Are All Right,” “Being Julia,” “American Beauty,” and “The Grifters.” Weitz was nominated in 2002, with Chris Weitz and Peter Hedges, for the Oscar for best adapted screenplay for “About a Boy.”
