Cranford Scarecrow Stroll Lines Downtown Streets Through Oct. 31
Maria Torres · Union County Life
According to Downtown Cranford's announcement on October 20, 2026.
Walk down North Avenue this month and you will meet a crowd that never moves. More than 100 scarecrows now stand along the streets of downtown Cranford, each one dressed up for fall by local hands.
Downtown Cranford's 19th Annual Scarecrow Stroll runs Oct. 16 to 31, and the display is up all day. For Union County Life readers looking for an easy fall walk, it is the kind of outing you can fit into any afternoon.
Downtown Cranford organizes the Stroll. Local residents, businesses, organizations, schools and families built the scarecrows that now line the downtown streets.
Visitors get a say, too. You can vote on the Downtown Cranford website or by scanning the QR code on any scarecrow nametag. Categories are 12 and Under, Adults/Families, Schools/Organizations, Businesses and Best Overall.
Voting is open through Oct. 29, so cast your picks by then. Downtown Cranford says winners will be announced soon after voting closes.
The event listing places the Stroll along North Avenue in the heart of downtown. Organizers encourage visitors to take their time and walk around to see every scarecrow.
The entry deadline was Monday, Oct. 5, so this year's lineup is set. The listing does not mention a cost to view the display, and it does not cover parking or accessibility. For questions, call Downtown Cranford at (908) 709-7208 or email dmc@cranfordnj.org.
The Downtown Cranford office is in Room 17 on the first floor of the Cranford Municipal Building, 8 Springfield Ave. Office hours are not listed. The scarecrows stay up through Oct. 31, so there is still time for one more slow lap.
