One Team, One Goal: Elizabeth Boys Soccer Looks to Keep Rolling
Maria Torres · Union County Life
Elizabeth boys soccer has won the Watchung Division championship. Union County Life reports that the Minutemen beat Union 4 to 1 on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and the team now stands at 12 wins and 2 losses this season.
Frank Reyes, Ibrahim Harouchi, Andres Diego and Juan Zhicay each scored in the win. Head Coach Jacques Gonzales said the team has shown it can compete at a high level and find ways to win. He added, “We must stay humble, stay hungry, and continue taking one game at a time.”
Gonzales said the most rewarding moments come when players trust one another and put the team first. He called building a team that believes in itself the program’s greatest accomplishment.
Captain Ibrahim Harouchi said injuries have been the team’s biggest challenge this season. He said the Minutemen have answered by having the next player in line step up, with trust and effort holding the group together.
Gonzales set three goals for the rest of the season: stay healthy, keep improving, and compete for championships. The Minutemen’s next match is Saturday, Oct. 17, at home against Dickinson at 7 p.m.
