Register for Winfield’s CodeRED Emergency Alert System

Maria Torres · Union County Life

The Township of Winfield uses CodeRED, a web-based critical communication system, to notify residents and visitors of time-sensitive information, emergencies, and urgent notifications by telephone, text message, email, and social media. The system can reach individuals within minutes, making it a crucial tool for emergency preparedness and response.

What CodeRED Sends

The CodeRED system is used to send critical and time-sensitive communications including weather-related emergencies, emergency preparedness information, emergency evacuation notices, snow emergency declarations, public health alerts, emergency activity notifications, and municipal information. Only authorized and trained township officials have access to send alerts through the system.

How to Register

Registration is free and available through multiple methods. Residents can enroll by entering their name, address, phone number(s), and email through the OnSolve CodeRED icon on the township website. Those without internet access at home may visit the township library or ask a friend or family member for help. Residents can also text WINFIELD to 24639.

The township recommends registering at least one phone number and one email address to ensure alerts are received during a power outage or an incident that occurs late at night. Residents may register more than one phone number and/or email address for their location.

Important Contact Information

Residents should save the caller ID 1(866)419-5000 as a contact named “Winfield NJ Alert” in their phones. Residents may also receive text messages from 24639 and are advised to add that number to their contacts. Email alerts come from township-of-winfield@notify.mir3.com, which residents should add to their safe email list to prevent messages from ending up in spam folders.

How CodeRED Works

When an alert is sent, residents receive a message and should listen carefully to the entire message. Recipients can repeat the message by pressing any key on their phone. If a call is missed, the system leaves a message on an answering machine or voicemail. If the call is not answered, the system retries after several minutes. Residents may also redial the caller ID number to hear the message again.

Important Guidance

Residents should not call 911 for further information about a CodeRED alert unless directed to do so or in need of immediate aid from police, fire, or first aid services.

Text Message Information

For text message registration, message and data rates may apply. Recipients may reply HELP for help or reply STOP to opt out of messages at any time.

Union County Life encourages all Winfield residents to register for CodeRED to ensure they receive critical emergency and municipal information when it matters most.
