Some Springfield kids will spend their Tuesday afternoons on the ice this November and December.
The Springfield Recreation Department and Union Sports Arena are offering six weeks of indoor ice skating lessons for Springfield children ages 4 to 17. Lessons run on Tuesdays from November 3 to December 15, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. There is no lesson on November 24.
Union Sports Arena is running the lessons in collaboration with the Springfield Recreation Department, according to the Township. Union County Life is sharing the details so families can plan before the first lesson.
The Township's post calls this another six weeks of lessons. It does not share details about any earlier session.
For families, the program gives children one set hour a week on indoor ice through the late fall.
Lessons are held indoors at Union Sports Arena, 2441-A Route 22 West. Each lesson runs one hour.
The cost is $140 per child, and missed lessons cannot be made up. Families register and pay online directly with Union Sports Arena at tinyurl.com/SPRSKATENOV26. The announcement does not list a registration deadline or a class size limit.
The post does not say what skaters should bring, where to park or what accessibility options are available. Questions go to Erica DuBois, Recreation Program Coordinator, at erica.dubois@springfield-nj.us or (973) 912-2227. Office hours were not listed.
Six Tuesdays are on the calendar and there are no make ups, so families may want to mark the dates now.
