Two Scotch Plains-Fanwood 12U Raiders Teams Head to Cooperstown; Community Asked to Help Send Them

Maria Torres · Union County Life

Union County Life is reporting that two Scotch Plains-Fanwood 12U Raiders baseball teams will travel to Cooperstown, NY, for a week of baseball and competition in summer 2027. Organizers call the trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the young players.

To help pay for the trip, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Baseball League has scheduled community events, starting with a fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings in Watchung on Monday, Oct. 26. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go toward the trip. Residents are encouraged to wear SPF Raiders gear and bring family and friends. Anyone ordering takeout is asked to mention “SPF Baseball” when placing the order.

A community clothing drive is set for Nov. 14 at Booth Field. Organizers are asking residents to donate usable, wearable clothing, shoes, and accessories. The league will also collect bedding, towels, stuffed animals, small hard toys, and bicycles. Organizers say more events will be announced.

Organizers say every contribution, whether a meal, a takeout order, or a bag of donations, moves the teams closer to Cooperstown. Residents who want to give online can use the trip’s GoFundMe page at gofundme.com/f/send-spf-12u-raiders-to-cooperstown-in-2027.
