Maria Torres · Union County Life
According to the Township of Union's announcement.
A new historic marker will tell the story of a Revolutionary War battle fought on local ground, and the public is invited to see it dedicated on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. at Veterans Honor Roll and Memorial Park on Wewanna Avenue in Union. Visitors will see a new commemorative historic marker and an informational kiosk.
The Township of Union Planning Committee for the 250th Anniversary of the United States is hosting the ceremony, in partnership with the Union Township Historical Society.
The marker honors the Battle of Connecticut Farms, fought on June 7, 1780, which the township calls a pivotal engagement in the American Revolutionary War. The installation stands along the historic Forgotten Victory Trail.
The township says the marker gives residents and visitors a permanent educational resource highlighting Union's role in the fight for American independence.
"We honor the history that happened right here in Union and look forward to commemorating the Battle of Connecticut Farms together as a community on November 7th," said Mayor Patricia Guerra-Frazier.
The ceremony is free and open to the public, and it is part of the nationwide America 250 celebrations.
