Van Fire Damages Oak Tree on Oakland Avenue Plainfield

According to emergency radio transmissions, the first call was for a vehicle fire, followed by a call for a tree fire. When a Plainfield reporter arrived shortly after 4 p.m., the van had been destroyed by the flames. The fire also burned the oak tree beside the vehicle, with visible damage extending at least 30 feet up the trunk.

A tow truck removed the vehicle before 4:30 p.m. The rear of the van appeared to contain large hose reels and other commercial equipment. No injuries have been reported.
