Local history fans from three counties will meet in Plainfield on Saturday, Nov. 7, when the Tri-County History Fair returns to the Plainfield Public Library at 800 Park Ave.
The 2026 fair brings together historical societies, museums and libraries from Middlesex, Somerset and Union counties. The library lists it as an all day event in its brand new Lower Level Atrium. Every program is free and open to all. Union County Life readers who enjoy family research, old houses or Revolutionary War stories will find plenty to explore.
A Revolutionary War camp, located
At noon, Dr. Laramie V. Potts presents "Unmasking the Blue Hills Militia Post: Locating Plainfield's Revolutionary War Camp" in the library's Anne Louise Davis (ALD) Room. The talk runs from 12 to 1:30 p.m. It focuses on where Plainfield's Revolutionary era fort once stood.
The program is part of the library's RevNJ and America250 celebration. The Drake House Museum and RevNJ have also listed the talk on their event pages.
Storytime and trivia for kids
Also at noon, children of all ages and their families can head to Room 2 for a History Fair Storytime & Trivia. The library is hosting it with the Girl Scouts and the Drake House Museum.
Both noon programs run at the same time, so families may want to split up or choose one.
