Free Paper Shredding Event Returns to Plainfield — Next Stop: Rahway, July 9

Union County held a free mobile paper shredding event in Plainfield on Sunday, June 14, at the Plainfield High School Arlington Avenue parking lot at 950 Park Avenue

.

The program ran from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and was open to all Union County residents — no matter which municipality they live in. Documents were shredded on-site by mobile trucks. The event closed early if trucks reached capacity.

Only personal and sensitive documents were accepted. Residents were asked to remove bindings, large plastic clips, and metal clips before arriving. Staples were permitted. Pre-shredded, damp, or wet paper was not accepted. Magazines and junk mail do not qualify and should go through regular municipal recycling.

The county's mobile shredding program runs from March through October, rotating through stop locations across all 21 municipalities. The next scheduled stop is Thursday, July 9, at Rahway River Park, 3 Parkway Drive, Rahway. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
