Fanwood, NJ Sewer Bills Due July 1, Grace Period to July 30
Fanwood's 2026 sewer utility bills have been mailed to residents, the Borough of Fanwood announced. The due date is July 1, as set by borough ordinance, but the grace period has been extended to July 30.
Fanwood property owners who have not yet reviewed their bill should note several changes to payment options and appeal procedures for 2026.
Union County Life is outlining the deadlines, payment options, and appeal process so Fanwood residents don't get caught off guard.
Appeal deadline is July 15
Residents have until July 15 to appeal their bill. The borough will only consider an appeal if there's an error in the New Jersey American Water data used to calculate the charge. All water usage recorded for a property is included in the sewer billing calculation.
How to pay
The borough is offering several payment methods this year.
Residents can pay online at fanwoodnj.org by selecting "Tax/Utility Look Up & Payment" and using the Utility Quick Pay module.
AutoPay is available for the first time. Residents who create an account through the online payment portal and add their sewer utility account can enable automatic yearly debits. The borough will send an email reminder about one week before each debit, confirming the date and amount. For 2026, AutoPay sign up must be completed by July 22, and the payment will process on July 30.
Bank BillPay is also accepted electronically this year. Residents using this option must enter their full sewer account number, including the "0" at the end, and must set up sewer and property tax as two separate payees, since the accounts use different numbers.
A drop box is available on the front porch of Borough Hall. Residents can also mail a payment with the coupon to Fanwood Sewer Utility, 75 N. Martine Avenue, Fanwood, NJ 07023.
In person payments have moved for 2026. Residents paying in person should now go to the Scotch Plains Municipal Building, 430 Park Avenue, Scotch Plains.
