Sweet Sounds Encore Brings Four Nights of Live Music to Westfield
Maria Torres · Union County Life
Four themed nights of live music are coming to Quimby Street in Downtown Westfield this fall. The Downtown Westfield Corporation is presenting Sweet Sounds Encore, a series running from September 4 through September 25, with each event from 6 to 9 p.m.
The series opens on Friday, September 4, with Scarlet Magnolia performing music of the Grateful Dead. The following Thursday, September 10, Nikki Briar and the Sweet Briar Band take the street for a country night, with DanceFix leading country line dancing.
Friday, September 18 is Yacht Rock Night, with New Yacht City performing 1970s and 1980s yacht rock. Captain's hats will be available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.
Sweet Sounds Encore closes on Friday, September 25 with Shake Rattle and Roll Pianos, an interactive dueling pianos performance.
"After a full summer of music downtown, we wanted to create four more evenings that give people a reason to reconnect," said Daniel Taugher, executive director of the Downtown Westfield Corporation. "Encore will bring a series of themed nights to Quimby Street, with each one offering a different style of music and its own atmosphere."
Adults 21 and older are permitted to enjoy beer, wine, and cocktails outdoors on Quimby Street during the events. Alcoholic beverages will not be sold by or through the event itself; attendees may obtain them through permitted establishments and retailers in accordance with Town of Westfield regulations, or bring their own.
Taugher also pointed to the dining options surrounding Quimby Street. "Encore is also a chance to discover some of Downtown Westfield's newest restaurants, including Le Bistrot, Vina, Omakase and Thai Society, along with the many other restaurants and businesses that make downtown a destination."
