Kenilworth Police Blotter: October 10 – October 15, 2026

Maria Torres · Union County Life

According to Kenilworth Police Department's report on October 16, 2026.

Union County Life is reporting on the Kenilworth Police Department’s blotter for Oct. 10 to 15, 2026. The department released the summary on Oct. 16. The blotter lists notable incidents only and does not reflect every call for service.

On Oct. 10, officers found a firearm during a motor vehicle stop in Kenilworth. The department said the firearm had a suspected machine gun conversion device, commonly called a “switch.” Officers also found suspected controlled dangerous substances. One person arrested that day was taken to the Essex County Jail. The blotter does not name that person or give the location of the stop.

On Oct. 11, officers responded to a report of suspected mail tampering in the area of North 20th Street. The resident was given information and guidance on follow-up steps.

On Oct. 12, officers made a pedestrian stop that led to the arrest of two people on charges related to suspected controlled dangerous substances. Both were processed.

On Oct. 13, officers responded to a report of property damage. They also responded to Delta Gas Station after a report of gasoline theft. That investigation remains active.

On Oct. 15, officers received a report of suspected fraudulent activity. That matter remains under investigation.

The department noted that all individuals charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The department encourages residents to monitor financial accounts, retrieve delivered mail promptly, and report suspicious activity. Business owners are encouraged to make sure commercial vehicles and trailers are properly secured, to remove keys from unattended vehicles, to keep surveillance cameras and exterior lighting working, and to report suspicious activity around their properties. Residents and business owners should contact police rather than confront anyone they see acting suspiciously. The Kenilworth Police Department can be reached at (908) 276-1700. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.

“We appreciate the continued cooperation and support of our community as we work together to keep Kenilworth safe,” the department said.
