Summit Football Visits Watchung Hills on Friday

The Summit High School Hilltoppers take their winning record on the road tonight, facing the Watchung Hills Regional High School Warriors at 7 p.m. The game is at Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, NJ.

Summit comes into the game 3-2 under head coach Kevin Kostibos. The Hilltoppers are riding a three-game streak that includes their most recent win: a 20-0 shutout over Edison High School on September 24, 2026. That game was the first football game under the lights at Tatlock Field, a milestone for the program.

But there is a challenge. Summit is 3-0 at home and 0-2 on the road this season. The Hilltoppers have not won a road game, and they have not won back-to-back games this season. Tonight's matchup against Watchung Hills could be an opportunity to break through on the road.

Summit's season began with a 23-21 win over Colonia High School, a two-point margin. The Hilltoppers followed with a 13-6 home victory against Carteret High School. Then came a pair of losses: 21-10 at Rahway High School and 29-0 at Cranford High School. Through five games, Summit has scored 66 points and allowed 77.

Watchung Hills enters the game 2-3 under head coach Joe Ascolese. The Warriors opened the season with a 14-0 win at South Brunswick High School. Since then, they have struggled: three straight losses to Union High School (15-12), Montgomery High School (32-14), and Somerville High School (55-24). Watchung Hills bounced back with a 21-19 win over Hunterdon Central High School, a two-point victory. Through five games, Watchung Hills has scored 85 points and allowed 121.

For Summit fans and the team, tonight represents a chance to prove they can win away from Tatlock Field. The Hilltoppers will be looking to get their first road victory of the season and secure back-to-back wins.
