Westfield Nixle Alert System Gets New Roadwork Channel
Robert Hargrove · Union County Life
Westfield has split its Nixle alert system into two separate channels, with daily roadwork updates moving to a new dedicated channel starting March 2026.
Union County Life readers in Westfield who want to keep receiving morning roadwork alerts must now opt in to the new channel. The change does not happen automatically.
To enroll, text 07090ROADS to 888-777. Signing up for the new roadwork channel does not remove anyone from the main Nixle channel.
The Westfield Police announced the change to keep the main Nixle channel focused on emergency and public safety notifications. Roadwork alerts, which go out daily, were crowding that feed.
Residents who do not opt in will still receive emergency alerts, public safety notices, and other critical town communications through the original channel. They will simply stop receiving the daily roadwork updates.
