Summit Middle School Students Stage A Wrinkle in Time in November

Maria Torres · Union County Life

According to Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School's announcement.

Students at Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School in Summit will take audiences on a journey through time and space with a stage version of A Wrinkle in Time.

The school will present the play in its auditorium on Friday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Audiences of all ages are invited.

The play was adapted by James Sie from the novel by Madeleine L'Engle. The school says the production showcases the talent, dedication and teamwork of its student performers and production crew.

The story follows Meg Murry, whose father disappears while working on a secret scientific project. Meg sets out with her younger brother Charles Wallace and their new friend Calvin O'Keefe, guided by three mysterious celestial strangers and an idea called a "tesseract."

Theater Director Ms. Wilkinson said the cast and crew learned alongside their characters that courage, accepting yourself and love can help overcome even the greatest challenges.

"Together, we have journeyed through distant universes, embraced the wonder hidden within the ordinary, and confronted the fears that come with the unknown," she said.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $18 for students and seniors, sold in presale only. They went on sale Saturday, Oct. 24, through the school's online ticket page.

The school invites community members to come out and support the young performers.
