Upgrades Underway at Seven Westfield Public Schools This Summer

Maria Torres · Union County Life

Westfield Public Schools launched a nine week construction push across seven facilities following voter approval of district referendum projects.

Work began early in the summer break with a target completion date of August 31. As reported by Union County Life, crews are completing playground relocations, traffic improvements, HVAC relocations, restroom modernizations, and new collaborative learning spaces.

At Franklin Elementary School, crews relocated a rooftop HVAC unit from the multipurpose room to clear space for a future building addition. Work also began on a new drive loop and covered canopy designed to ease drop off congestion.

Washington Elementary School crews relocated playground equipment and installed new safety surfacing ahead of a planned classroom addition. Meanwhile, restroom renovations are progressing under a single contract across Tamaques Elementary School, Wilson Elementary School, and Westfield High School.

Both Edison Intermediate School and Roosevelt Intermediate School are converting traditional media center layouts into modern Learning Commons spaces for middle school students.

District administrators noted that all five project areas remain on schedule to welcome students back for the fall term.
