Linden Schools Set Elementary Conferences, Pink Day and Family Survey
Maria Torres · Union County Life
According to Linden Public Schools' announcement.
It is a full week for Linden Public Schools families, with conferences, a Pink Day and a family survey all on the calendar.
Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences run Tuesday through Thursday, Oct. 27 to 29, in Linden, with early dismissal and lunch served each day. Families who have not booked an appointment are asked to schedule one through the Genesis parent portal right away.
The reminders come from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Atiya Y. Perkins in a letter to families. She opened the letter by celebrating Linden High School librarian Maria Pereira Colish's Unsung Superheroes in Education Award and a performance by the Madrigals at the New Jersey School Boards Association Workshop.
On Wednesday, Oct. 28, the district will hold Tiger Pride Pink Day for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Families are asked to send students in pink accessories with their standard uniform, as a sign of unity across all 12 schools.
Families are also asked to complete the anonymous New Jersey School Climate Improvement Survey, developed by Rutgers University. It is open in the Genesis portal through Nov. 2. Perkins wrote that family feedback is “vital to our growth.”
New Jersey Student Learning Adaptive Standardized individual student report scores are now available in Genesis. Perkins asked families to review them and check attendance records, including absences, tardies and, for secondary families, cuts. “We must partner to curb chronic absenteeism and protect valuable instructional time,” she wrote, linking attendance to the district's #ShowUpandRoar initiative.
The letter does not give the early dismissal time or conference hours, list which schools count as elementary schools, or say whether conferences are in person or virtual. It also does not include a Genesis web address, phone number or email. Families can log in to the Genesis parent portal and contact their child's school with questions.
For conference week, Perkins asked families to come prepared. “Come ready to celebrate progress and discuss how we can work together. Your partnership matters.”
